J. Haider distillery
As the first whisky distillery in Austria, the Haider family has stood for innovation par excellence since the beginning of 1995. Several tens of thousands of visitors per year visit the world of experience in Roggenreith, which is connected to the distillery. There, the guests can expect not only the production and storage facility on three levels, but also a film screening, smelling, tasting and understanding malt and of course the tasting in the whisky cellar. Around 200,000 liters of whisky are stored in the distillery.
In addition to classic single malt whisky, the flagship company in terms of quality and tourism is known for its rye and rye malt whiskies and thus shows vision. Both the Original Rye Whisky JH, made from rye and barley malt, or the 100% rye malt whisky, with extraordinary aromas of nut nougat or honey, are just a few of the bottlings from the distillery that have already won international awards and stand for individuality, innovation and quality.
The family business has created a Mecca for whisky lovers: inside in the middle of the Waldviertel. From the spring water from Roggenreith to the barrel, from local oak and peat from the neighborhood, the rich treasures of the region are used and thus the independent brand is secured. Whether whisky cafe, children’s garden or helipad - here the comfort of all guests is taken care of. A small excerpt for a great experience, in a chosen “top excursion destination” in Lower Austria.
