With its variety of grains, the private distillery in Klaus is certainly one of the most exciting whisky houses in Austria. At the beginning there was the “beautiful hobby”, the grandfather’s right to distill fruit. In 2008 Eugen and Bruno Broger released the first whisky from the still. Since then, the focus has increasingly been on the Vorarlberg grain, which is distilled as a pure variety: spelt, wheat, rye and above all the Riebelmais, which every Vorarlberger knows (although not as whisky).
Bulleit

The Bulleit distillery in contrast to expectation is brand new having only opened in 2017. The far older brand with its distinctive bottle and the Wild West invocation of “Frontier Whiskey” has only existed since the 1990s. The hinted at family history invoked by the controversial brand refers to August Bulleit, the whisky producing great-grandfather of the founder, but seems to exist more as fiction than fact Founded in 2017 Bulleit Bourbon is no longer entirely sourced, but produced own distillery.

Ireland’s oldest, and supposedly, haunted licensed distillery. In truth while the right to distil was granted back in 1608 the current distillery only dates back to 1888 but despite this it’s easily Ireland’s oldest still operating distillery with the New Middleton distillery being built in 1975 and Cooley not popping up until 1987
