Aberfeldy

The original John Dewer was born on a croft near Aberfeldy in 1806 and started work in the wine trade by 22. Thereafter the family began blending whisky and eventually founded their own distillery at Aberfeldy in 1896. Then as now the distilleries main purpose was to supply malt for the Dewar’s blend, even today the distillery visitor centre is geared around the blend rather than the distilleries own single malt.

Aberlour

Aberlour derives its name from the pretty Speyside village of Aberlour, or Charlestown of Aberlour, as it is more formally but far less commonly known. The current Aberlour distillery was originally founded in 1879, and was the second distillery of this name. An earlier distillery was founded approximately a mile away in the grounds of Aberlour House in 1825. The earlier distillery founded by the Laird James Gordon, who is perhaps more famous for gifting two pistols to George Smith of Glenlivet, and a man named Peter Weir who withdrew within a year.

Adelphi

Ailsa Bay

Alltech Craft

The American animal nutrition company Alltech is an unusual one. Founded in 1999 by Pearse Lyons it’s operations began in animal feed and meat before diversifying with the launch of Town Branch Bourbon in 2011, named after the waterway on which Lexington is founded. Alltech, a global biotech company from Kentucky, is known to have its own yeast for distilling developed as well as additional expertise in the use of enzymes for distilling.
