Genuinely Interesting Tour Run by Passionate People by FormidableFoursome

We arranged to do this tour on a whim as we had an hour to kill before lunch in Iffley and we like gin! It is an artisan gin distillery, completely rejecting the large scale commercial approach and their passion shows through in both the tour and the products. Their story is amazing; we could have listened for hours! The tour is also generous with the tastings...! There was no hard sell in the shop - there didn't need to be, the products sell themselves! We would thoroughly recommend the tour...and the gins!

Could've Catered for the Designated Driver and Been More Knowledgable by T A

The place itself is really nice, staff are friendly and my partner said the drink they produce is delicious.However, they don't cater for the designated driver so make sure you get the bus or train. We had to drive as we were staying a fair distance away. On the other 2 distillery tours we've done elsewhere they've substituted the tasting for a mini 5cl bottle to take home. I asked on arrival but they declined, even though they sell them in the shop for only £6 or so. They even said 'we have to put the drinks in front of you' even though I just told them I was driving home, which isn't particularly professional or safe...The tour guide was lovely, but could've done with being a bit more knowledgeable about the distilling process. She said a few times 'the distillers have told me, but I don't understand fully'. Would've been better for one of the actual distillers to give the tour as they know the process inside out.

The Oxford Artisan Distillery is a hidden gem in Oxford; tucked away off a leafy avenue it borders South Parks and has an attractive shady garden area with tables under tall trees - perfect for summer drinks, which is what we did, ordering cocktails from a selection that is far from run of the mill - delicious! There's also an attractive indoor bar for rainy days.The cocktails were the warm-up, we were there for the Founders Tour and we were not disappointed....our guide, the extremely informative Lesley, took us through an impressive array of samples, explaining what goes into creating each type of gin, vodka and whisky they make, and how each is unique. Incredible that they've gone back to grains used in the Middle Ages and grow their own crops using 100% organic and sustainable methods. What an asset for Oxfordshire! Oh and the gin and vodka is amazing too.....all in all a very special experience!
